The sports community received a warm personal note from Sue, the organiser behind Burnside Equestrian Centre. Below is her straightforward yet engaging update:
Welcome to Burnside Equestrian Centre, located in Riverhead, New Zealand. Sue established the centre in 1983, and it’s been offering quality equestrian training for nearly forty years. The centre moved from Clemow's Orchard in Albany to its spacious Riverhead location in 1999, providing an inviting environment for riders of all ages.
Burnside Equestrian Centre specialises in teaching children up to 10 years old the basics of riding. The focus here is on safety and education, offering private tuition and small group lessons with well-trained ponies. The coaches are qualified by both the UK Equestrian Federation (UKPC) and the New Zealand Pony Club Association (NZPCA), so riders get solid guidance and instruction.
During school holidays, Burnside offers a holiday programme for those wanting to develop their skills further. This three-hour session runs from 10.00am to 1.00pm on weekdays and covers horse management and riding, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging experience.
The centre offers a range of services to meet different needs. Small group lessons run for an hour over eight-week terms, providing consistent training. For children under 5, there are 30-minute private lessons available, while older or more advanced riders can opt for 45-minute private lessons. Additionally, semi-private lessons for two riders are available for those looking for a shared learning experience.
Recognising the needs of both riders and horses, Burnside also provides grazing and livery services for $150.00 per week, ensuring horses receive the care they need.
Visitors to Burnside Equestrian Centre will be welcomed by Sue, who holds NZRC Grade 3 and BHSAI qualifications. Alongside her is Debs, with her NZPCA A certification, and Ray, who helps maintain the facilities. Tom and Stella, the friendly greeters, ensure everyone feels welcome.
Sue has also teamed up with Focuspeak Photography, capturing stunning photos for the centre’s website. Andras, the photographer, offers family and business photography services—just mention Burnside sent you!
Located at 63 Forestry Road in Riverhead, Auckland, the centre is easy to find. For inquiries and bookings, you can call 021 2667027 or email [email protected]. Inspections are welcome by appointment. Sue looks forward to providing you with a great equestrian experience.
