Burnaby Judo Club Bonsor is a non-profit, volunteer-run society that is dedicated to promoting, teaching, and practising Judo. Founded in the mid-1960s, we have been a leader in the judo community, welcoming individuals of all ages and abilities into our dojo. Conveniently located in the Bonsor Recreation Complex in Burnaby, BC, just across from Metrotown, our dojo is easily accessible by car, skytrain, and major bus routes.
Our dojo space is bright, climate-controlled, and clean, with mats that meet European Judo Union standards. Lockers, showers, and washroom facilities are located just down the hall for the convenience of our members. We offer no pressure free two-week trials for those interested in trying out judo with us.
Judo is an Olympic sport that provides a complete combat experience, involving both standing and grappling techniques. It is an excellent form of exercise, developing agility, balance, coordination, strength, fitness, and overall conditioning. At Burnaby Judo Club Bonsor, we emphasize the core values of courtesy, courage, sincerity, honour, respect, modesty, and self-control.
We offer judo classes for beginners to advanced levels, including competitive programs, for children, youth, and adults. Our NCCP-certified instructors provide a fun, safe, and effective training environment, focusing on proper technique and technical excellence in judo practice. While we encourage competition and winning, our main goals are to promote personal excellence and foster a sense of community among our members.
Whether you are looking for fitness, fun, friendship, or to learn the Judo Way, Burnaby Judo Club Bonsor welcomes you to join our judo community. Come and experience the enjoyment and benefits of judo practice with us. See you soon at the dojo!
