Brodie Lodge Playing Field, located in the heart of Flore village in Northamptonshire, is a six-acre sports and social facility. Situated at the bottom of Spring Lane, near the village Primary School and Church, the field is open for use by the local community for various activities such as sports, play, relaxation, and socialising. The field is operated as a charity and is maintained by a group of Trustees and supporters.
The diverse range of facilities at Brodie Lodge Playing Field makes it an ideal destination for individuals of all ages. The field boasts a children's playground, junior and adult football pitches, a petanque terrain, and a skateboard ramp. These facilities are surrounded by open green space, an established hedgerow, and trees which provide a habitat for wildlife.
Brodie Lodge Playing Field holds a significant historical value for the villagers of Flore. The field was generously donated to the villagers in the 1960s by Brodie Lodge, who had purchased Flore House and the surrounding land after retiring from the Lodge Spark Plug Company. The field was initially offered for sale to the Flore Parish Council, but due to financial constraints, Brodie Lodge chose to donate it instead. Since 1999, a charitable trust and management committee have been responsible for the administration of the playing field.
In addition to offering sports facilities, Brodie Lodge Playing Field serves as a gathering place for residents, dog walkers, and friends. It provides both indoor and outdoor social spaces where visitors can meet and catch up with fellow community members. The field contributes to the well-being and sense of community in Flore, promoting recreation, camaraderie, and a connexion with nature.
Whether you are a villager or a visitor, Brodie Lodge Playing Field welcomes you to enjoy its facilities and the natural surroundings. The field is a testament to the strong community spirit and the commitment of volunteers in maintaining and developing this cherished recreational space.
