Free Water Park & Public Play Space, the local Swimming club in Petrie, is excited to be part of the thriving sporting community in the Moreton Bay Region. With the recent announcement of the Brisbane Roar Women home and the Nolan Park BMX track tenders, it's clear that the region is committed to investing in top-notch sporting facilities.
The $23.6 million investment towards building a new BMX racetrack and Football Centre of Excellence at Brendale is an impressive step towards the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The new BMX racetrack at Nolan Park is set to become the training ground for Australia's first gold medallist in the discipline, promising an exciting future for BMX enthusiasts in the area.
Not only that, but the $22 million football centre of excellence at South Pine Sports Complex will soon be the home of the Brisbane Roar's junior academy and women's team. With the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup just around the corner, this state-of-the-art facility will undoubtedly contribute to the success and growth of women's football in the region.
It's fantastic to see the support from the State and Federal Governments, who have provided funding for these projects. Their commitment to the community and the development of our sporting infrastructure is commendable.
Construction on the football centre of excellence is scheduled to begin in January 2022 and is expected to be completed in late July 2023. Meanwhile, the BMX clubhouse is close to completion, and the BMX track should be finished by June 2022, weather permitting. These timelines show that the region is working diligently to provide outstanding facilities for young athletes to pursue their dreams of representing Australia on the world stage.
The Moreton Bay Region is determined to become a sporting powerhouse and create an exceptional lifestyle for its residents. With a wide range of sports and recreational options available, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
