Chris has organised a fantastic spot for sports lovers at Brightlingsea Lido in Essex. This classic 1930s open-air pool is open from May to September, offering a unique swimming experience by the sea. Whether you're looking to swim laps in the 50-metre pool or just cool off, this is the place for you.
For families, there's a smaller pool perfect for toddlers, and parents' supervision ensures everyone's safety. Brand new changing rooms with showers and cubicles make it easy to get ready before and after your swim, and sun loungers are available to rest and soak up some rays.
Café Lido, right on site, serves a variety of hot and cold food and drinks, from quick snacks to full meals. Grab a tea, coffee, or ice-cream to refuel after your swim.
Safety is top priority at Brightlingsea Lido. Bring your own inflatables and toys, just keep them under a metre. Be mindful with photos to respect others' privacy. As an outdoor pool, the water isn't heated, but wetsuits can be hired if you prefer a bit of warmth.
Want to know the water temperature? Check it out on the website, social media, or at the Front of House.
Brightlingsea Lido has gained recognition, being a finalist at the East of England Tourism Awards. Chris and the team welcome donations and volunteers to keep the Lido running smoothly. Interested in helping out? Head to the Volunteer page.
