Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Tasmania Launceston, also known as BJJ Taz, is a family-oriented training centre for the grappling art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu located in Launceston, Tasmania. The club was founded in 2007 by head coach Brad Lowe, who is a second degree black belt and has a long history in martial arts. BJJ Taz is proudly a part of the Maromba Academia Australia Jiu Jitsu Team and aims to bring top quality state, national, and international instructors to the club to teach and improve Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Tasmania.
At BJJ Taz, the focus is on promoting technique rather than relying solely on brute force. The club offers a vast timetable of gi and no-gi jiu-jitsu classes that cater to the whole family. In addition to regular classes, the club often hosts seminars with national and international instructors to enhance the learning experience and evolution of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Tasmania.
The club prides itself on creating a welcoming and family-friendly environment. Coach Lowe encourages a supportive atmosphere where members can train hard and learn while enjoying themselves. Questions are encouraged during appropriate times, and laughter and enjoyment are valued during training sessions. The club follows the principle of leaving ego at the door and prioritises a positive and collaborative learning environment.
The facilities at BJJ Taz include 117m2 of mat space, air conditioning and heating for comfort, ample free parking at the front door or across the street, and male and female changing rooms equipped with showers.
BJJ Taz's lineage can be traced back to renowned figures in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, including Carlos Gracie Senior, Helio Gracie, Carlson Gracie Senior, Orlando Saraiva, Paulo Streckert, Thiago Stefanutti, and head coach Brad Lowe.
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced practitioner, BJJ Tasmania Launceston offers a welcoming and supportive community for those interested in learning and practising the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
