Box Hill Little Athletics Centre is excited to announce their upcoming local Little Athletics event! This is a fantastic opportunity for athletes from U6-U16 to showcase their skills and passion for athletics.
The meets are held on most Sundays, starting at 1.45pm for U6&7s and 2pm for U8-U16s. You can find us at Hagenauer Reserve, which is located in Barwon Street, Box Hill. But that's not all! In addition to regular competitions, the centre also offers special events such as Friday twilight meets, relay days, multi-events, and cross country races.
To help athletes reach their full potential, Box Hill Little Athletics Centre provides a structured training program conducted by professional coaches. These training sessions take place every Wednesday at 4.30pm, and the cost is included in the registration fees. It's a great way for athletes to develop their skills and improve their performance during competition days.
At Box Hill Little Athletics Centre, they believe in recognising and celebrating the achievements of their athletes. They have an annual recognition program that acknowledges athletes for their consistent participation, personal best performances, and even club and state records. These awards are presented at the end-of-season AGM, creating a memorable experience for all involved.
The success of the program wouldn't be possible without the support of parents. That's why Box Hill Little Athletics Centre requires all parents to complete a role at 50% of regular competition days and special events throughout the season. This helps create a sense of community and provides valuable assistance in running the events smoothly.
If you're interested in getting more involved, Box Hill Little Athletics Centre welcomes parents to join their committee and contribute in any capacity. Whether it's helping with organisation, or lending a hand on competition days, your contribution will be greatly appreciated.
To be eligible for registration with Box Hill Little Athletics Centre, athletes must be at least 5 years old. It's important to note that there is an official uniform that athletes are required to wear for competitions. The uniform consists of black shorts/bloomers and either the approved Box Hill Centre uniform singlet or crop top. Athletes are also required to wear a plastic/cloth sponsors bib with their name, age, and registration number pinned or attached to the front of the uniform.
When it comes to footwear, lightweight shoes such as racing waffles or flats are recommended for hurdles, track events up to 400m, and jumps. It's significant to select shoes with good shock absorption for the full program and events such as the Walk, Middle Distance, and road training. Spikes are allowed for certain events but are not permitted for cross country. Make sure to check the guidelines for spike length and shape to ensure compliance.
Remember, basketball boots are not suitable for Little Athletics activities involving continuous forward running. So be sure to come prepared with the right gear to make the most out of the event!
Box Hill Little Athletics Centre looks forward to seeing you at their upcoming event. It's a great opportunity to showcase your skills, have fun, and be part of a supportive community. Lace up your shoes, get ready to compete, and let's make this Little Athletics event one to remember!
