Bow River Jiu-Jitsu is located inside the Tao of Peace at 6331 Bowness Rd NW in Calgary. The school offers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes with an emphasis on fun and safety, suitable for all levels. The classes are no-gi friendly, meaning all you need is a t-shirt and a pair of shorts to participate.
The school is affiliated with Champion's Creed Martial Arts and is led by Gyno de Baat, who started training in BJJ at the age of 40 after watching UFC 2 on VHS tape. Gyno's passion for the sport led him to start training with friends in their basement before officially starting classes at Champion's Creed in 1999. He was awarded his BJJ black belt by Brian Bird in 2014.
At Bow River Jiu-Jitsu, the focus is on creating a low-key, no-ego, and no-politics environment where everyone is welcome. The school aims to provide a place where students can have fun, improve their fitness, and make new friends. The classes are $80 GST for PAP members, $20 GST drop-ins (free for CCMA members), with special pricing for Tao of Peace members. Participants must be 16 years or older, and those under 18 require a parent or guardian signature to join.
