Bovington 2, the renowned fishery in Hatfield Peverel, has been under the management of CAPS (Colchester Angling Preservation Society) since 1991. Anglers flock to this picturesque location to indulge in the thrill of fishing, with Carp and Tench stealing the limelight as the favourite catches. Eager anglers will be delighted to hear that Bovington 2 boasts an impressive record of specimen fish, including a whopping 42lb Carp. Although the Tench population isn't as abundant as before, there are still opportunities to reel in those impressive double-figure catches.
In February 2018, the club introduced a dozen VS Fisheries Carp into the waters, ranging from 8lb to 19lb. And if that wasn't exciting enough, November 2020 saw the addition of five C5 and two C4 Carp, weighing between 10lb and 18lb. Among them, you'll find linears, leathers, and heavily plated mirrors, making your fishing experience at Bovington 2 all the more fascinating.
For avid anglers, Bovington 2 offers a year-round fishing experience without any close season restrictions. However, please note that the opening times are subject to change, so it's always a good idea to stay updated. The fishery also provides a convenient toilet facility situated in the car park, which is regularly maintained by a professional cleaning company. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, all visitors are kindly requested to wipe down any touched surfaces before and after using the facility, ensuring everyone's safety.
Bovington 2 spans a water size of approximately 6 acres, offering anglers 32 pegs for their fishing endeavours. While there are no specific disabled swims or facilities available, the dedicated members of the club should already be familiar with the rules outlined in the handbook, which was provided upon joining. It's important to adhere to these guidelines, including essential rules specific to fishing in Bovington 2. Remember to always lock the access gate to the fishery, not exceeding the maximum of two rods during the summer months (April to the end of September), and using three rods from 1st October to the end of March. Additionally, it's crucial to note that the use of nuts as hookbaits or loose feed is strictly prohibited in all Society waters. Our club has invested heavily in installing an otter fence, so please ensure that the access gate remains closed and locked at all times to prevent any potential issues with otters.
