The Bourne Outdoor Swimming Pool has a rich history dating back to 1919 when the historic monks fishpond was converted into a swimming pool by local swimmers after World War I. In 1932, Bourne United Charities began modernising the pool, and by 1966, new indoor changing rooms were built, and the poolside area was extended to its current form. In 1971, Bourne Round Table raised funds for the pool's first heating system. However, in 1989, South Kesteven District Council decided to close the pool.
In response, a committee was formed, and a preservation trust was established after a protest march and a 4,000-signature petition to save the pool. Since 1990, the Bourne Outdoor Pool Preservation Trust has leased the pool from Bourne United Charities and has been responsible for its operation.
