Boldon CA Swimming Club

Kate, the organiser of Boldon CA Swimming Club, welcomes everyone to the club. Established in 1978, the club was created to make swimming accessible to members of the Boldon Colliery community. Over the past 40 years, the dedicated team of volunteers has provided quality lessons and training sessions to roughly 180 members.

The club uses two swimming pools for their activities. The main facility, a 4-lane, 25m pool, is located at Boldon School Sports Centre. Additionally, they utilise the pool at Boldon Community Association. Membership includes individuals ranging from non-swimmers, starting at age 5, to experienced Masters League swimmers, with no upper age limit.

Most sessions are held on Mondays, with ten different sessions catering to various abilities. Kate also organises sessions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays for teaching and training. Competitive members often participate in local and regional galas within the North East and national galas.

The club is affiliated with Swim England and the Royal Lifesaving Society, and since 2009, has been accredited with Swim England's SwimMark (formerly Swim21) certification. This reflects their commitment to providing a safe and high-quality swimming experience.

Kate and the team believe in making swimming affordable and accessible to all community members. They offer a year-round teaching and competitive swimming programme for swimmers of all levels. The aim is to help members reach their full potential in the sport.

The club offers a progressive route from non-swimmers to competitive swimmers. Membership is ongoing, with fees based only on the sessions attended each week, along with annual costs for club, Swim England, and Community Association memberships. Efforts are made to keep these fees as low as possible to ensure accessibility.

The club operates thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers who ensure smooth operations and provide the best coaching. They prioritise the progress and comfort of swimmers, making sure they are ready before moving them to different sessions.
