Founded in 1985, the Bognor Regis Archery Club, under the guidance of its committed members, has grown into one of Sussex’s largest and most inclusive clubs. Located in Bognor Regis, the club, managed by John Smith and his dedicated team, caters to archers of every skill level, from novices to seasoned players. The inclusive nature of the club ensures that individuals of all ages and abilities, including families, can engage in the sport together.
John Smith and his team provide a comprehensive range of services for members. These include beginners' courses designed to introduce newcomers to archery, and advanced courses offering insights into equipment usage and optimisation. The club extends coaching and support, ensuring every member receives guidance and advice as needed.
The Bognor Regis Archery Club supports various bow disciplines, with teams available for most forms. Members regularly compete at the regional level, offering ample opportunities to test skills and compete as a team. Although the club cannot accommodate crossbows, poppinjay, field, and clout archery due to limited grounds, they facilitate shooting with recurves, compounds, longbows, barebow, traditional bows, and flatbows. For added enjoyment, a “toy crossbow” tournament marks the beginning of winter.
Safety is paramount at the club, with strict adherence to Archery GB guidelines, providing a secure environment for all participants. This ensures a worry-free experience for both members and visitors.
Membership at the Bognor Regis Archery Club is structured with several options: adult membership at £90 per year, young adult (18-24) at £54, disabled membership at £47, and junior membership at £36. A beginner's course is offered at £50, and Archery GB associate membership fees are £42 per year. Archery GB members visiting the club can shoot for a nominal fee.
Inquiries can be directed through the club’s website or by visiting in person at their summer venue behind The Arun Inspire Leisure Centre in Felpham or their winter venue at Westbourne House School in Chichester on Sunday mornings.
Bognor Regis Archery Club, under the stewardship of John Smith, remains a vibrant community devoted to fostering a passion for archery. The club’s welcoming atmosphere and supportive environment continue to promote the sport’s rich history and enjoyment.
