Body Tone Pilates stands out from other Pilates studios with its progressive teaching approach. Unlike other classes, our demanding workouts push you beyond your limits, teaching you to engage the correct muscles for each exercise. This increases your body awareness and technique, allowing you to truly understand what Pilates is all about, rather than just mimicking the exercises.
For beginners, our Beginners Course is perfect for maintaining joint health, promoting a healthy body, improving posture, and gaining a solid understanding of the basic Pilates principles. It is also suitable for those who want to improve mobility or manage discomfort and pain.
Our Intermediate Course focuses on developing core muscles, flexibility, and stamina. Built on the foundation of the Beginners course, this programme strengthens your body and takes your practise to the next level.
Advanced Matwork classes are designed to build endurance and test your fitness levels. This routine stems from the original work of Joseph Pilates, also known as 'Classical Pilates'.
All our classes follow a structured syllabus, allowing for a progressive transition from Beginner to Intermediate to Advanced levels. To ensure individual attention, each class has a maximum capacity of 12 clients. Our Pilates classes are available in Hitchin, Baldock, and Stotfold.

What is Pilates?
Pilates is a unique body-conditioning method that operates differently from other fitness techniques. By targeting the deep postural (core) muscles, it strengthens the body from the inside out, bringing it into proper alignment. As a result, Pilates reshapes the body, making it longer, leaner, and more toned. It also improves posture, striking the perfect balance between strength and flexibility.
Furthermore, Pilates is an effective way to relieve stress and tension. Athletes can use it to enhance their performance while reducing the risk of injuries. At the same time, it is suitable for first-time exercisers. Because of the precise, controlled movements, Pilates avoids muscle and ligament damage commonly seen in other fitness regimes.
In fact, it plays a crucial role in injury rehabilitation programmes across various fields, including dance, sports, and general practise. Medical specialists highly recommend Pilates due to its slow, controlled approach that provides long-term results.
The Body Control Pilates Method is based on the work of Joseph Pilates, who started developing the method during World War I. In the 1920s, he opened a studio in New York, attracting the city's elite, including actors, dancers, boxers, and athletes. These individuals found that Pilates exercises complemented their traditional programmes, addressing their specific needs. With Pilates, they could build strength without bulk, balance it with flexibility, and achieve a harmonious connexion between mind and body.
We now offer classes at new venues! Our evening classes in Baldock take place at Hartsfield JMI School, and our Stotfold classes are held at St Mary's Academy. Competitive block bookings, with payments taken on a 12-14 week basis at 13. 50 per class.
