The BMT Swim group, a local activity run by Barb Millar Training, is open to women of all abilities, ages, and fitness levels. Whether you're a seasoned triathlete, looking to improve your open water swimming skills, or just starting out and want to learn how to swim, this group has something for everyone.
The sessions offered are designed to cater to individuals with varying swimming abilities. You can work at your own pace within the session plan, ensuring that you get the most out of your time in the pool while minimising the risk of injury. The coaching provided focuses on improving technique and strength, gradually increasing distance to maximise the benefits of each session.
Swimming in a group setting has its advantages – it's not only motivating, but also a lot more enjoyable than swimming alone. The sessions take place at Wharenui Pool, a fantastic venue for swimmers. You can choose to attend one or two sessions per week, depending on your availability and commitment level.
The group operates on a 7-week rotation, but don't worry if you've missed the start of a block – new participants are always welcome to join at any time! If you're already comfortable in the water and looking to refine your technique, increase your fitness level, and gain strength, these 7-week blocks are perfect for you.

On Sundays, we have a Beginners session from 4pm to 5pm, focused on building confidence and swimming skills. Following that, from 5pm to 6pm, we have a General session suitable for all levels. Additionally, there is a General session on Wednesdays running from 7pm to 8pm.
