The Blue Jays Netball Club is excited to announce that registrations are now open for their Winter Day Season 2024. Interested players can secure their spot by registering on January 8th, 2024, or February 11th, 2024 (please note that there are limited numbers available).
The Winter Day Season will kick off on April 20th, 2024, and run until August 3rd, 2024. It's going to be an action-packed season filled with thrilling netball matches and friendly competition.
To participate, players will need to pay a registration fee of $365, which covers their participation in the different age groups. The age groups include Moddies (girls or boys born in 2016 or 2015, aged 8 or 9), Juniors (girls or boys born in 2014 or 2013, aged 10 or 11), Intermediates (girls or boys born in 2012, 2011, or 2010, aged 12, 13, or 14), Opens Ladies Comp ONLY (born in 2009 or earlier, 15 and older), Opens Men's Comp ONLY (born in 2009 or earlier, 15 and older), and Opens Both Ladies & Men's (born in 2009 or earlier, 15 and older, TBC). Players in these age groups may even have the chance to play in a higher grade, so there's plenty of room for growth and development.
Grading clinics will be held on various dates for different age groups at St Rita’s College (41 Enderley Road, Clayfield 4011). This will help ensure that players are placed in the appropriate division based on their skill level, making the competition fair and exciting for everyone.
As for the fixture schedule, Winter will introduce changes in the Opens Competition, with a separate Men/Boy's Opens Competition. The other age groups will continue as a mixed competition. Fixtures will commence on April 20th, 2024, with the Moddies Division wrapping up on August 3rd, 2024. For Junior, Intermediate, and Open Divisions, the regular season will conclude on August 3rd, 2024, and then the finals will commence on August 10th, 2024, leading up to the Grand Finals on August 24th, 2024 (subject to wet weather provisions).
Please note that there will be a break from fixtures during the school holidays, from June 22nd, 2024, to July 6th, 2024. This will give players a chance to recharge their batteries and come back refreshed for the remainder of the season.
Training nights are most likely to take place on Thursday nights, and the specific training times will be determined by the coach and court availability. It's important for players to attend these training sessions to improve their skills and develop a strong team dynamic.
When it comes to uniforms, players can order them through the Blue Jays website. It is mandatory for players to wear the official playing singlets, which can be paired with black shorts or leggings. Before collecting the uniforms, please ensure that the payment has been made in full. In case you're looking for second-hand options, you may want to check out the Blue Jays Secondhand Uniforms Facebook page.
Lastly, players are encouraged to have proper footwear with adequate grip and support to minimise the risk of joint-related injuries. Your safety is significant to us, so we want to ensure that everyone has the necessary equipment to enjoy the game safely.
Remember, Fair Play Vouchers are accepted, and more information can be found on the Blue Jays website.
