Blacksheep Mountain Bike Club

Blacksheep Mountain Bike Club in Thunder Bay is a community of mountain biking enthusiasts dedicated to promoting the sport and supporting trail development in the area. The club offers membership opportunities for all levels of riders, from casual enthusiasts to avid racers. Members gain access to a range of events, including group rides, skill clinics, races, and more.

One of the signature events hosted by Blacksheep is the bi-weekly Wednesday Night Race Series, which provides riders with an opportunity to test their skills on challenging courses and compete against fellow riders. The club also organizes group rides and participates in Northwest Ontario's leadinge mountain bike festival.

Blacksheep volunteers play a crucial role in maintaining over 30 km of trail in Thunder Bay. Donations to the club go towards purchasing tools and materials, training, insurance, and food for volunteers. The club is committed to the ongoing development and maintenance of the Trowbridge Forest Multi-Use Recreation Trail System, which includes mountain bike-optimized singletrack trail, a bike skills park, and Nordic doubletrack.

The Trowbridge Forest Masterplan, funded by over $1. 5 million from various sources, will bring enhancements such as a bike skills park with jump lines and a pump track, multiuse singletrack, downhill bike-only gravity trails, a new trailhead via Balsam St, a shade structure, and a playground at Kinsmen Park. Blacksheep acknowledges the traditional lands of the Anishinabeg Nation and Fort William First Nation, and the club is dedicated to responsible stewardship of the land.
