Black and Gold Archers

Black & Gold Archers is a well-established archery club in Cheltenham, New Zealand, founded in 1948. As a friendly and social club, they cater to all levels of archers, from beginners to those with years of experience. The club is dedicated to supporting individuals who want to take part in the sport and create a welcoming community.

For those interested in trying archery, Black & Gold Archers offer beginner's courses that provide comprehensive training on shooting techniques, different types of archery, and how tournaments are run. The courses consist of four weekly sessions, costing 60, and take place on Thursday evenings at 6:45 pm at Tewkesbury CofE Primary School. At the end of the course, participants receive a certificate that allows them to join any Archery-GB registered club, including Black & Gold Archers.

Membership at Black & Gold Archers is affordable and includes registration with Archery GB and the two regional archery organisations (GAS and GWAS). The membership fees vary based on age and disability status, ranging from 25 for under-18s to 89 for over-25s. Members are also required to pay a shoot fee of 1. 50 for each shooting session they attend to cover rental costs and equipment maintenance.

Black & Gold Archers host two major tournaments each year, open to all registered archers, including those shooting recurve, compound, and longbow. The tournaments offer various rounds, including York, Hereford, Junior & Senior National, and Bristol I/II/III, with record status. The Spring tournament takes place on the 19th of May 2024, while the Summer tournament is scheduled for the 4th of August 2024.
