Bird Dance is a dance school located in Banbury, New Zealand. Founded and taught by Martin and Sarah Bird, who are qualified professional dancer teachers and former British Professional Sequence Dance champions. They are also British Dance Council qualified scrutineers and adjudicators. With their wealth of experience and expertise, Bird Dance offers top-notch ballroom, Latin, and sequence dance lessons.
Martin Bird's love for competitive dancing began at the tender age of nine when he embarked on his dancing career. He quickly rose through the ranks and even won the Junior British Championships in Blackpool at the age of 12. As a ballroom competitor at 15, Martin made it to the semi-finals of the British National Junior Championship in 1996. Martin's passion for dancing continued during his university years, where he won the Advanced Ballroom category at IVDC three times.
Partnered with Gemma Clunie, Martin secured the 2007 British Amateur Classical Sequence Championship, along with various other major Sequence Championships nationwide. In 2010, he reunited with his current partner and wife, Sarah, and together they won numerous National Ballroom competitions and recaptured the British Amateur Classical Sequence Championship.
