The emblem of Bill's Ballroom is the dancing bees, which symbolises the inspiring story behind the studio. Scientists have proven that aerodynamically, bees should not be able to fly. However, the bee's determination to achieve its goals by adapting its wing movement teaches us the importance of perseverance and being open to change in order to reach our own goals.
The club believes that anyone can learn to dance, and how far one goes depends on various factors. With the right attitude and perseverance, anyone can achieve success in dancing. Bill's Ballroom aims to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where dancers of all ages and skill levels can mix freely and learn from each other.
Founded in 2005 by Bill and Sue Donald, Bill's Ballroom initially opened at Rathmines Hall before expanding to include Morisset Hall later that year. In 2006, they moved their base to Teralba Community Hall while continuing to teach classes at Morisset until it temporarily closed. The club prides itself on providing ballroom dancing in its standard forms to people from diverse backgrounds and areas.
Bill and Sue Donald founded the studio based on several fundamental principles. They wanted to create a platform where individuals could learn ballroom dancing socially and then develop their skills to the best of their abilities. They also wanted to provide an atmosphere where dancers of all ages and levels could mix freely and learn together. Furthermore, they remained committed to delivering high-quality instruction to their students.
Over the years, Bill's Ballroom has seen numerous successes. A significant number of their students have participated in medal assessment programmes, consistently achieving Honours results in all four styles of dancing. Students as young as five years old to those in their 80s have participated in these programmes. Some students have even reached Gold Star status and continue to progress in their dance journey.
Additionally, many students, across all age groups, have participated in social competitions and higher-level competitions, showcasing the versatility and skill of the dancers at Bill's Ballroom.
Whether someone is a beginner or an experienced dancer, Bill's Ballroom provides a nurturing environment where everyone can develop and grow in dance. The team of experienced instructors is dedicated to helping individuals achieve their dancing goals while fostering a sense of camaraderie and enjoyment within the dance community.
