The club's mission is to encourage, promote, and assist in the development of the community through the sport of BMX. From the age of 2 to 50+, riders of all ages can compete in organised race meetings at various levels, from club races to state, national, and even world championship events.
The Big Rivers BMX Club is proud to be part of the Olympic BMX sport, offering riders the opportunity to compete in national championships and potentially represent Australia in the world championships. The club extends heartfelt thanks to their sponsors, including the Northern Territory Government, Katherine businesses, and the local community, for their generous support.

The Big Rivers BMX Club has undergone remarkable transformation since 2016. With the help of the NT Government and the local business community, the club was able to demolish and replace its old track, which had fallen into disrepair. A significant government grant of $113,044 was recently awarded to the club, enabling them to instal track lighting for enhanced safety and visibility during races and training sessions.
Despite setbacks such as theft and vandalism in 2019, the Big Rivers BMX Club remains resilient and dedicated to its community and members. They have received tremendous support from fellow BMX clubs in the Northern Territory, including the Jingili BMX Club and Satellite City BMX Club. In turn, the Big Rivers riders have actively participated in events hosted by these clubs, fostering a sense of camaraderie and mutual support within the BMX community.
Looking ahead, the club has exciting plans for 2020. They have been awarded a Major Grant from the Community Benefit Fund (CBF) in late 2019, totalling $189,751. This grant will allow them to upgrade their track surface, create spectator fencing, and address drainage issues. With these improvements in place, the Big Rivers BMX Club aims to make 2020 their best year yet, offering an exceptional experience for riders and spectators alike.
