As the organiser, Grant Sutherland would like to extend a warm invitation to the sports community. Biggar Golf Club, a historic and welcoming golf course established in 1895, is located in Biggar, South Lanarkshire. The club is proud of its rich heritage and friendly atmosphere, and welcomes visitors of all ages and capabilities.
The club comprises a Ladies' section, Gents' section, and Junior section, catering to players of all genders and skill levels. The clubhouse, fully licenced and equipped with catering facilities, provides a pleasant space for members and guests to socialise and unwind after a game.
Throughout the year, Biggar Golf Club hosts various social functions, creating opportunities for members and visitors to enjoy each other's company. The club is also open to organising other events upon request, ensuring a dynamic calendar.
The golf course operates seven days a week, from 7am until dusk. Tee times can be booked by phone between 7am and 7pm, allowing players to plan their games conveniently.
Biggar Golf Club is actively seeking new members to join their community. For those interested in membership or seeking more information, feel free to reach out to Grant Sutherland, Frazer Andrews, or Bobby Leishman.
The course, steeped in history, has undergone several transformations. Originally situated near the Caledonian Railway station and known as “Langlees”, it moved to Heavyside in 1901. By 1907, funds were raised to establish the current location of Biggar Golf Club.
Initially, a nine-hole course opened by the legendary Old Tom Morris, it expanded to eighteen holes in 1922. Over the years, notable players have set impressive records, with the amateur record of 60 held by former club champion Steve Callan and the professional record of 63 held by European tour player Paul Lawrie.
Whether a seasoned golfer or a beginner, Biggar Golf Club provides a picturesque and welcoming environment to enjoy the game. For further information and inquiries, please contact the club via phone or visit the website. Grant Sutherland looks forward to welcoming you to Biggar Golf Club.
