Bharatham

Bharatham - Academy of Fine Arts, established in 1996, stands as a beacon of traditional Indian dance and music. Affiliated with The Tamilnadu Music and Fine Arts University since 2015, the academy offers certified courses in vocal, violin, and Bharathanatyam. Impressively, every student who has taken the exams has excelled, achieving first-class and distinction honors in both practical and theory.

The school has proudly seen 49 students graduate with flying colors and has facilitated over 50 arangetrams, a testament to its commitment to excellence in the performing arts. Students of Bharatham have graced numerous dance festivals in Chennai and made notable television appearances on shows such as Jaya TV's Thaka Di Mi Tha and Doordarshan's Valarum Kalaignar. Their talent and hard work have been recognized with prestigious scholarships from the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training and appreciation awards from VDS Arts Academy, Chennai.

Under the expert guidance of Dr. Himaja Athul Kumar, a disciple of Kalaimamani Dr. Uma Anand (Dandayuthapani), Bharatham nurtures young talents with rigorous and heartfelt training. Dr. Himaja, with a rich performance history of over 100 solo and group performances nationally, brings her profound expertise and passion to the academy. Her students have consistently received glowing reviews from critics in leading publications like The Indian Express and The Hindu.

Bharatham doesn't just teach dance; it creates mesmerizing productions that tell compelling stories. Notable performances include "Thuru Thuru Tenali Raman," a full-length comedy dance musical, and poignant dance dramas such as "Shivalinga Dharisanam," "Shakthi Prabhaavam," and "Paranthama Vaibhavam."
