The Beverley Croquet Club, located in Cottingham, offers club sessions for all members to come and enjoy playing Association Croquet. With sessions taking place on Monday and Tuesday afternoons as well as Saturday mornings, there's plenty of opportunity to get a game in.
On Monday afternoons, the club's main session, you can always count on at least one short lawn being available alongside full lawn play. Tuesdays prioritise short croquet, but you might also find a full lawn available. Play at these sessions kicks off at 2pm and typically lasts for two to three hours, though members are more than welcome to play for as long as they like.
Saturday mornings, from 10am to 12, give you the choice between short or long croquet depending on the demand. It's a great opportunity to switch things up and try out different playing styles. To ensure everyone has a fantastic time, it's encouraged for members to arrive promptly, so play can be organised accordingly.
But that's not all! The club also holds 'Mix-It' sessions during the middle week of each month. This is when opponents are determined by lottery, giving everyone the chance to experience different styles of play against a variety of opponents. It's all about mixing things up and having some fun!
Of course, members are also free to play croquet at other times throughout the season, which runs from April to October. Availability may vary, so it's important to check if the lawns are open. Please note that on Thursdays and Fridays from 2pm to 4pm, the lawns are reserved for U3A groups. We love seeing the community come together and enjoy the sport!
While the lawns are usually open during all daylight hours, there are some exceptions. There may be times when the Rowley Manor hotel utilises the space for weddings and other special events. But don't worry, there's still plenty of time to get out there and have a friendly game!
