The Bendigo Cricket Club, located in Bendigo, is excited to announce the upcoming Women's 1st XI competition for the 2021/22 season. This event will showcase the competitive spirit and talent of our club as we enter two teams into the competition: Bendigo and the Bendigo Goers. Both teams will be vying for the prestigious Lisa Chesters Shield.
We take great pride in the fact that our club has had the privilege of participating in the BDCA women's competition since its inception in the 2019/20 season. This year, we are especially proud to have two female teams representing the Bendigo Cricket Club. It's worth highlighting that many other local clubs have faced difficulties in assembling a full team. This achievement truly reflects the dedication and hard work of our coaches, team managers, and players.
Last season, the Bendigo Goers had an unforgettable post-Christmas season, securing a memorable premiership win. Their success on the field not only demonstrated their competitiveness but also served as a shining example of the club's values and commitment to excellence.
The Women's 1st XI competition takes place every Sunday at 10am, with games following a 25-over one-day format. While the level of play continues to rise, we want to emphasise that our competition warmly welcomes players of all abilities and experience levels. Our primary focus is on fostering participation and ensuring that every team member has the opportunity to showcase their skills in batting, bowling, and fielding.
This season, our team coaches are Ren Haeusler and Mark Ryan. Bendigo will be represented by Amy Ryan, while Ren Haeusler will lead the Bendigo Goers team. With their guidance and expertise, our players are sure to thrive and make us proud.
