Who are the teachers?
Bellyup Bellydance is fortunate to have a team of dedicated and experienced instructors. Fran and Bec are our Oriental teachers, bringing their passion and expertise to teach traditional bellydance. They have years of experience in performing and teaching, and their classes are filled with joy and enthusiasm.
On the other hand, Katrina and Bronwyn are our FCBD/Tribal teachers. They have a deep understanding of the unique style and techniques required for this modern form of bellydance. Their classes focus on group dynamics and the art of dancing together as a cohesive unit.
Why choose Bellyup Bellydance?
Bellyup Bellydance is more than just a dance school. We are a community that celebrates diversity, friendship, and empowerment through bellydance. Our classes are tailored to accommodate people of all ages, fitness levels, and abilities. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced dancer, you'll find a supportive and encouraging environment to learn and grow.
In addition to the physical benefits of bellydance, such as improved core strength, flexibility, and balance, our classes also foster social connexions and lifelong friendships. We believe in the power of sisterhood and provide a space where women and girls can come together to bond over their shared love for this beautiful dance form.
Performance opportunities are also available at Bellyup Bellydance. Students have the chance to showcase their skills at our haflas (dance parties) for their peers, family, and friends. For those who are ready for a bigger stage, there are opportunities to perform at community events as well.
Where and when are the classes held?
Bellyup Bellydance operates an 8-week term system, aligning with ACT public school terms.
Our classes are held at the Tuggeranong Arts Centre, located at 137 Reed Street North, Greenway. The classes take place in Studio 2, which can be accessed through the double yellow doors off the side-car park. When entering the centre, the studio is on the right-hand side.
What are the different styles taught?
At Bellyup Bellydance, we offer two main styles of bellydance: traditional/Oriental and FCBD/Tribal style. In our traditional classes, you'll learn the classic bellydance moves through choreography, allowing you to create beautiful performances from the very first class.
On the other hand, our FCBD/Tribal style classes focus on learning a vocabulary of dance combinations using cues. This modern form of bellydance emphasises group harmony and improvisation, giving you a unique and exciting dance experience.
So, whether you're interested in the traditional elegance of Oriental bellydance or the dynamic synchrony of FCBD/Tribal style, Bellyup Bellydance has classes tailored to your preferences.
