Join the fun and friendly Beginners Salsa classes at Pexava Dance Company, located in Northfields, West London. No partner required! The classes take place every Tuesday at the Navasartian Centre. Registration is open upon arrival on any Tuesday of the month.
For just £10 per lesson, you can enjoy a 1-month course that will introduce you to the exciting world of salsa dance. When it comes to footwear, we suggest wearing shoes with a low heel and a strap across the ankle for secure footing. While trainers are acceptable for the first few classes, we highly recommend non-marking shoes with a suede or leather sole for enhanced pivoting on the wooden floor.
Our dress code is casual and comfortable, with jeans and a t-shirt or a light top being the popular choices. Once you join the class, you can expect a one-hour session filled with fun and learning opportunities. The lesson begins with a lively warm-up, followed by solo dancing to learn steps and weight transfer. We then move on to partner dancing, focusing on teaching you the art of leading and following.
While rotating partners is optional, we highly recommend it as it enables you to learn faster and make new friends along the way. There's no need to bring a partner with you, as we ensure that both ladies and gents rotate throughout the lesson.
After the beginners and improvers classes, you have the option to participate in our practice sessions. Alternatively, you can attend one of our Thursday or Saturday Socials for further practice and enjoyment. These social events provide the perfect opportunity to showcase your newfound dancing skills in a relaxed and supportive environment.
If you already have previous salsa or Latin dance experience, we recommend arriving at 7.20pm for a short assessment. This will help us determine the most suitable class for you, so you can continue to challenge yourself and grow as a dancer.
