Guidedmountain, the popular climbing club, is excited to announce an upcoming event that is perfect for all those who have little or no experience in climbing. This course is designed to ensure that everyone can safely enjoy the sport while also providing the option for technical instruction, based on individual preferences.
The event will be held at the stunning Symonds Yat Rock in the Wye Valley, conveniently located just 75 minutes from Birmingham and 150 minutes from London. With over 400 climbing routes within a short distance from the car park, participants will have plenty of opportunities to explore and challenge themselves. The venue itself is surrounded by beautiful scenery, nestled in mixed woodland and bathed in warm afternoon sunlight.
The course is scheduled to begin at 09:00 with an introduction, followed by the issuance of equipment and a thorough safety briefing at the charming café. Participants will then take turns to climb, all while studying various aspects of climbing such as movement, safety systems, belaying, and knot tying. Lunch will be provided, after which participants will have the chance to further develop their skills and explore the cliffs. As an added bonus, the course may also include an ascent of the famous Longstone Pinnacle, an impressive standalone pillar of rock towering 130 meters above the river.
For those who opt for the two-day course, there will be an opportunity to either return to Symonds Yat or visit a similar nearby venue. This allows participants to continue honing their techniques, including abseiling and setting up belays.

All technical climbing and safety equipment will be provided, although participants are more than welcome to bring their own gear if desired.
