
Join experienced instructor Michelle Castelani for the Beginners Pilates Course at PhyxMe Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation (Edge Hill) and gain the confidence and skills to join our regular timetable Pilates classes at our fitness studio. Our course is designed specifically for beginners, creating a comfortable and supportive environment to learn about Pilates. Even if you have some limited Pilates experience, this course is a great opportunity to refresh your knowledge and improve your technique during classes.
During the four-week course, beginners will cover the basics of Matwork Pilates. Each week, we will focus on different topics such as breathing, activating the core muscles including the pelvic floor and transverse abdominus, addressing lower back, hips, and knees, and finally learning about the upper back, shoulders, and neck. We also introduce participants to the various props used during our Matwork classes, including the Pilates circle, resistance bands, Swiss ball, chi ball, and foam rollers.
When you enrol in the course, you will receive 4 × 90 minute workshops with all the necessary equipment provided. Additionally, during the first two weeks, you will have a 'find your core' consult with Physio Lauren Sambell using real-time ultrasound. This personalised session will further enhance your understanding of core control. Plus, you'll also have access to unlimited Beginners Pilates timetable classes throughout the course.
Pilates, created by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s, is a versatile exercise system that focuses on developing core control, stability, and dynamic body movement. Our classes take place on a mat and incorporate a range of small props, as well as the resistance of gravity and your own body weight, to work the body effectively.
