Join the beginner's archery course organised by Wilford Bowmen Archery Club. This course consists of four 2-hour sessions held on consecutive weeks at their outdoor venues. All equipment will be provided, so participants just need to bring themselves and maybe some boots and a raincoat if the weather is bad. During the course, attendees will learn target archery and how to shoot a recurve bow with a sight. Each participant will have their own bow for the day and will share a target with other archers. An experienced club coach will guide them throughout the session.
It is recommended for participants to wear close-fitting long-sleeved tops and thin layers, especially on colder days, to avoid any issues with the bowstring. Wilford Bowmen will provide protective arm guards, but they should also wear long sleeves for additional safety. Facial piercings should be removed, and long hair should be tied back. Open toe footwear is not allowed for safety reasons.
Completing the course makes attendees eligible for membership at Wilford Bowmen or any other club in the UK after their vetting process. Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course. In case of cancelled sessions due to poor weather, they will be rescheduled. The course dates may extend beyond the original proposed dates due to variable weather conditions. Participants should be prepared to shoot in light or intermittent rain, as it is common for archery.
After the course, there will be a follow-up session to discuss options. If interested in attending the beginner's course, individuals should visit the 'Contact us' page on Wilford Bowmen's website and register their interest. Once the course is confirmed, a link to the booking system will be emailed where participants can reserve their place. It is important to note that the number of spots is limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
