Welcome to Bedford Grappling Academy, the leading Sambo club in Bedfordshire. We are a grappling sports club that specialises in Sport Sambo and Judo. Our club, known as BGA, was formed back in 2011 by Russell Dodds and has been thriving ever since. Following Russell's passing, his son Adam, along with the support of our dedicated coaches, has continued to build and strengthen the club.
At BGA, we have a team of experienced full-time coaches who are fully insured, DBS checked, and first aid trained. Our coaches have coaching qualifications in either judo or sambo, ensuring that our students receive the highest quality training.
Our head coach, Adam Dodds, holds a 1st Dan in sambo/judo. He began his martial arts journey at the age of 8 and has been practising ever since. Adam has an impressive record, having won gold at the IBF Multi Nation Championships twice in a row and becoming a four-time British sambo champion. As head coach for the past 7 years, he has dedicated himself to ensuring the success and growth of BGA.
In our gallery, you can see the hard work and dedication of our students paying off. We believe in the power of practise and perseverance, and we are proud of the achievements our members have made over the years.
If you have any questions, our FAQ section provides answers to common queries. We offer the first lesson for free, and subsequent sessions are priced at 4 per session or 15 per month. Membership to the club is not mandatory, though we encourage regular attendance to make the most of your training.
When you come for your first class, make sure to bring appropriate workout attire and a water bottle. We will provide any necessary equipment for training. At BGA, we aim to provide a supportive and inclusive environment where individuals of all ages and skill levels can achieve their goals.
