Distances and elevation gain Beacon RCC organises various audaxes throughout the year, which are challenging but non-competitive rides that cater to cyclists of different ambition levels. Many club members also participate in audaxes across the country. The club has a thriving racing scene, with members involved in disciplines such as time trials, circuit racing, track racing, and cyclocross. To find out about club-organised time trials, track training sessions, or how to get involved in road racing, interested individuals can refer to the Racing page on the club's website.
One of the key elements of club life at Beacon RCC is club runs. These sociable group rides take place every Sunday and cater to different levels of ability and fitness. The club runs meet at 09:00 for an 09:15 departure from the Black Horse Pub on Bristol Rd S. The club also organises rides on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, and during the summer months, there are Tuesday evening club runs departing from Northfield Cycles at 18:30.
In an effort to make club rides more accessible and inclusive, Beacon RCC recently started running Sunday morning British Cycling Guided Rides alongside their regular club runs.
The club runs are categorised into different speed groups, ensuring that all members can find a suitable pace and distance. The Sunday A group covers 55–70 miles at a pace of 16 mph or above, while the Sunday B group rides 50–60 miles at a pace of 14-16 mph. The Sunday C group covers 45–55 miles at a pace of 12-14 mph, and the Sunday D group rides 45–50 miles at a pace of 10-12 mph. Additionally, there is a Sunday Guided Ride covering 30 miles at a pace of 10-12 mph.
Beacon RCC offers club kit for its members, with Santini being the current supplier. Members can purchase kit during specific ordering windows, and bulk orders are arranged at several points throughout the year to reduce costs. The club also keeps small amounts of stock available for new members to purchase.
In addition to engaging in various cycling activities, Beacon RCC members regularly meet for meals, drinks, country walks, and other social purposes. The club strongly encourages newcomers to join and get to know its members before making a decision to join. Those interested in joining the club can visit the club's website, message board, or social media platforms for more information and to stay updated on club events and activities.
