One of the key members of the BC Horse Training team is Edward Baker Eddy. Originally from Moora, Eddy developed his passion for horses at a young age, spending his time riding ponies and stockhorses. He educated his first horse, a young standardbred, at the age of 13, and from there, he continued to work with horses, starting them from scratch and paving the way for a successful career in horsemanship.
Eddy's passion for horses led him to enrol in a 3-year Equine Management course at Bindoon Agricultural College. During his time there, he had the opportunity to start young horses to saddle, further refining his skills as a horse trainer. After completing his studies, Eddy gained experience working at a Brahman stud in New Norcia and Hamersley Station, where his natural talent for working with horses was recognised and appreciated.
In 2006, Eddy returned to Perth and was offered a job breaking and working thoroughbreds with his uncle, Robert Smith. This experience exposed him to the world of horse racing and allowed him to further develop his skills as a trainer. It was during this time that Eddy found his niche in the breaking industry and became well respected within the industry for his easy-going and friendly approach to both horses and people.
In recent years, Eddy has also ventured into the world of Ranchsorting and has proven himself to be a competitive rider, representing Western Australia at the National Ranchsorting as a finalist in 2019. He has achieved impressive rankings in Western Australia, placing as the second runner-up for the high point rider in 2019 and 2020 after only 18 months of competing in the discipline.
Eddy's focus is on producing versatile horses that are suitable for any discipline, whether it be dressage, cow-horse sports, or simply a trusted companion for everyday riding. With their experienced team and dedication to creating strong human-horse connexions, BC Horse Training is the premier choice for horse training in Benger and the surrounding areas.
