Welcome to Bay Walkers, a vibrant sports club located in the beautiful Gold Coast City. With over 112 members, we are a close-knit community of fitness enthusiasts who come together to enjoy the numerous benefits of walking.
Our group meets every Wednesday and Friday at 7:30am for a refreshing walk. The walks are of medium pace and typically last between 30 to 45 minutes, providing the perfect balance of exercise and enjoyment. Unfortunately, we are not a dog-friendly or pram/wheelchair-friendly group at this time.
Our meeting point is the Customer Service Desk at the Runaway Bay Centre, conveniently situated at Cnr Lae Dv & Bayview St, Runaway Bay, 4216. This central location allows us to explore the stunning surroundings of Runaway Bay while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
If you're new to walking or simply looking for a supportive and engaging community, Bay Walkers is the perfect fit for you. Joining our group will provide you with an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who have a shared goal of improving their overall wellbeing.
At Bay Walkers, we believe in the power of walking as a form of exercise. Studies have shown that walking for just 30 minutes a day can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes by 30 to 40 percent. Additionally, regular walking can assist in managing weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels, while also improving balance, coordination, and bone density.
Our club is proudly supported by the National Heart Foundation of Australia, and we work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure that our walking programme complements their care. We offer a free Personal Walking Plan, which is designed to help individuals feel healthier and happier in just six weeks.
