About
Battlehill Karate Club is a member of The British Combat Karate Association and specialises in Traditional Shotokan Karate. The club focuses on the practise of traditional kata, with an emphasis on practical application for self-defence. They also have an interest in Karate as a sport and have participated in various competitions. Some members of the club also practise and teach judo.
Battlehill Karate Club is open to exploring other forms of traditional arts as well.
The club follows a 'pay as you go' system, where members are required to contribute 3. 50 per session to cover the hall hire and acknowledge the hard work put in by the students. Training is open to individuals from the age of 6 years old and above, as long as they show dedication and have a respectful learning attitude.
The club holds a grading every three months to allow students to progress through the ranks. In addition, a weekly trophy is awarded to the student who shows the best attitude and puts in their best effort. The club strongly believes in the holistic nature of karate, as expressed by Kenwa Mabuni in 1938, and encourages its members to have an open mind and study the complete art.
Battlehill Karate Club trains at the BattleHill M. U. Centre located in Wallsend. Training sessions are held on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays from 5 pm till 6 pm.
The club is led by instructor Ian David Campbell, who can be contacted for more information.
Overall, Battlehill Karate Club is passionate about karate and its principles of self-defence and personal improvement. They welcome individuals of all ages who are interested in learning and practising traditional martial arts.
