Founded by Professor Carlos Bozano Collor, who has over 40 years of experience training in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and over 20 years of experience teaching, Base Jiu-Jitsu offers high-quality Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and self-defence classes for children, teenagers, and adults.
Professor Carlos received his training at the prestigious Academia Gracie de Jiu-Jitsu in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, commonly known as the Gracie Humait Academy. After moving to Australia, he established Base Jiu-Jitsu in Cleveland, Queensland, and has been dedicated to spreading his expertise and knowledge to the community ever since. Holding a 5th Degree Black Belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Professor Carlos is highly respected in the martial arts community for his skill and expertise.
Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, also known as GJJ, is a comprehensive system that combines self-defence and combat sport. It focuses on grappling techniques, with an emphasis on ground fighting. The philosophy behind Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is centred on the idea that smaller, weaker individuals can effectively defend themselves against larger, stronger opponents by utilising technique, leverage, and taking the fight to the ground. Joint locks and choke-holds are then utilised to neutralise and defeat the opponent.
