Barston Lakes is a prominent fishing club located in Solihull, within the West Midlands Golf Club. Situated conveniently for Coventry, Birmingham, Solihull, Leamington, and Warwick, this all-round fishing venue boasts a variety of features and facilities that cater to the needs of both experienced and amateur anglers.
The club's main attraction is the expansive Barston Lake, covering an impressive 21 acres and offering 125 pegs. This lake is home to an abundance of Carp, with some specimens reaching an impressive weight of up to 37lb. Anglers can enjoy carp fishing, including night fishing, as well as book matches that can accommodate groups ranging from 10 to 100 people. Half of the lake features convenient car parking facilities near the pegs, with some pegs specifically designed to accommodate wheelchair users.
Additionally, a public footpath/bridle path runs along the right-hand side of the lake.
In addition to Barston Lake, the fishing club also provides access to Jake's Lake, which comprises 10 pegs and is known for its specimen carp weighing up to 35lb+, as well as Daisy's Lake with 18 pegs for pleasure fishing. These lakes are not typically used for matches, allowing anglers to utilise them on a first-come, first-served basis.
Barston Lakes prides itself on providing a comfortable and convenient experience for its members. Anglers are welcomed to use the golf clubhouse, with a bar open from 7am onwards. The bar offers food options seasonally, allowing anglers to take their meals back to their designated pegs. Clean and well-maintained toilets and showers are also available for use.
To ensure the continued enjoyment of all members, Barston Lakes has established a few rules to maintain a safe and respectful environment. These include the prohibition of barbed hooks, surface fishing, and braid mainline (except November 1st to May 1st). The use of keepnets is only allowed during matches, and members of the Carp club must acquire a night permit and adhere to specific rules when night fishing. The club closely monitors anglers throughout the day and enforces a zero-tolerance policy for any disruptive or inappropriate behaviour, which may result in expulsion without refund.
Conservation is also a priority, and anglers are expected to return all fish to the water, with any instances of fish theft reported to the police.
Barston Lakes operates on a calendar system, with certain dates reserved for matches or events that may restrict peg availability or close the lake entirely. The website provides a detailed calendar to inform members of these dates and any corresponding restrictions.
In terms of pricing, Barston Lakes only accepts contactless payments and does not handle cash transactions. Day ticket prices for anglers utilising 1 or 2 rods range from 12. 00 for an 8-hour session to 24. 00 for an extended session lasting 17–24 hours.
