Barnsley Archery Club is a friendly and family-oriented club located in Austin. The club offers both indoor and outdoor facilities, ensuring that members can enjoy archery all year round. The indoor shooting times are from October to March, on Friday evenings from 7. 00pm to 10.
00pm at the Honeywell Sports Village Grandstand shooting range on Shaw Lane. Members can also book the range through the online booking system in the members area. However, only a maximum of 4 shooting members are allowed in the range at the same time. The Grandstand range also provides access to bow maintenance and technical equipment.
During the outdoor season from April to September, members can enjoy shooting on Wednesday evenings from 6. 30pm to 9. 30pm and on Saturday afternoons from 1. 00pm to 4.
00pm. Outdoor shooting is subject to weather conditions and available light. Members are also free to practise on the field at any time, but the designated club sessions are specifically designed to provide support to newer members by more experienced archers.
Barnsley Archery Club welcomes individuals of all ages and abilities, ensuring that archery is an inclusive sport. However, children must be aged 7 and above to undertake a beginners course and join the club. The club offers beginners courses, which typically run for 6 sessions either once or twice per week, providing a total of 12 hours of 1:1 tuition. The cost of the course is 60 and includes the use of club equipment.
The courses are designed to help participants reach a standard where they can shoot safely, enjoyably, and with accuracy.
Membership fees for the club are 80 for seniors, 60 for 18-24 year olds, and 40 for juniors per year. These fees are prorated if joining part way through a year. Membership runs from January 1st to December 31st. In addition to club fees, there is a Shaw Lane membership fee of 13 for seniors and 6 for juniors.
Archery GB, County, and Regional affiliation fees are also required, with fees of 53 for renewing senior members, 56 for new members, 18 for renewing 18-24 year olds, 22 for new members, and 12. 60 for renewing junior and disabled members, 16. 60 for new members. Affiliation fees are due in August each year.
To apply for membership, individuals must have completed a beginners course. Details of the courses will be posted on social media and on the club's website calendar section. There is a waiting list, and the club will contact individuals as places become available. Parents or guardians must be present throughout the course for junior participants.
