Highgate Ballet School, located in Chapel, is excited to promote an upcoming Ballet event that is sure to captivate the interest of both children and adults in the local area. Offering a range of classes for all ages and skill levels, this Ballet club in Highgate, North London follows the esteemed Cecchetti graded ballet exams system, allowing students to progress at their own pace and explore the beautiful art of ballet.
For our youngest dancers, aged 3-5, we have the Pre-Primary class, which focuses on introducing the fundamentals of ballet without the requirement of taking exams. Following this, the Cecchetti Primary class is designed for children between the ages of 5 and 7, providing a solid foundation before they move on to the next level and take the exam.
Our Standard Class exams are tailored for children aged 6-9 who have some prior dance experience. These exams typically take around three terms to complete, giving our young dancers the opportunity to showcase their skills and progress in a supportive environment.
The intermediary levels, Standards 2 and 3, are perfect for children who attend ballet once a week and serve as a bridge between the grades. While some classes studying standards may choose to skip the exam and move directly to the grades, we encourage students to challenge themselves and embrace the exam experience.
Our Grade exams, targeted at children aged 7 and above, offer a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate both technical proficiency and artistic expression. Grade 1, suitable for children aged 7-10, takes approximately 3–4 terms to complete, while Grade 2 is designed for children aged 8 and older who possess considerable previous dance experience. Grade 2 may take 4–6 terms to complete, and attending twice-weekly classes is recommended in the term of the exam to ensure optimal preparation.
It is important to note that ballet exams are optional but highly recommended. Successfully passing an exam not only brings a sense of accomplishment but also rewards candidates with a report form and certificate. However, even without participating in exams, students can still progress alongside their peers, benefiting from the guidance of our experienced teachers in an environment that nurtures both learning and an appreciation for the art of ballet.
So, whether you're looking to introduce your child to the wonders of ballet or embark on your own ballet journey as an adult, Highgate Ballet School invites you to join us for our upcoming Ballet event. Experience the joy of dance, discover your own potential, and be a part of our vibrant community at Highgate Ballet School.
