Welcome to Ballarat Wednesday Walks, a sports club in Ballarat dedicated to promoting a healthier heart and lifestyle through the power of walking. Walking for an average of 30 minutes a day has been proven to lower the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes by 30 to 40 percent. At Ballarat Wednesday Walks, we believe that walking regularly can have a profound impact on your overall well-being. Not only does it manage weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol, but it also reduces the risk of developing certain cancers, maintains bone density to reduce the risk of osteoporosis and fractures, and improves balance and coordination to prevent falls and injuries.
Our walking group provides the perfect opportunity to build connexions within your community while working towards a healthier heart together. By joining our group, you will have the chance to meet new people, share experiences, and support each other's fitness goals. Walking in a group also adds an element of accountability, motivation, and fun to your exercise routine.
We understand that starting a new fitness journey can be daunting, but rest assured, getting started with Ballarat Wednesday Walks is easy. Simply search for our walking group within a 10 km, 20 km, 25 km, 50 km, or 100 km radius of your location and register to join. Our friendly Walk Organiser will provide you with all the information you need to get started, including walking routes, meeting times and places, and any additional details.
For healthcare professionals, we offer a structured and supportive walking programme that complements your care for patients. Whether your patients prefer to walk alone or in a group, our motivational programme has been developed to help them meet the national physical activity guidelines and improve their overall health.
Not only will you be taking care of your own health, but you will also have the opportunity to make a difference in your community by becoming a Volunteer Walk Organiser. As a Walk Organiser, you will plan and lead walking routes, coordinate meeting times and places, and welcome new members to our group. We provide training and support, as well as recognition and rewards for your efforts in promoting a healthier lifestyle.
So, if you're over 18 years old, friendly, enthusiastic, and passionate about promoting a healthier lifestyle, we invite you to join Ballarat Wednesday Walks and become a part of our walking community. Together, we can take steps towards a healthier heart and a happier life.
