The founder of Balans, Joakim, is a Swedish-born Australian who has been residing in the UK since 1998. With a background as a former Australian Army Reserve Commando, Bondi Beach Surf Life Saver, and TA Physical Training Instructor, Joakim is a highly experienced 2nd Generation Pilates Teacher and Sports Therapist. His clientele includes professional and elite sportspeople from various fields such as Polo, Dressage, Motor Racing, Hockey, and the dance industry. Joakim's international background is evident in the dcor and techniques incorporated into the treatments and Pilates sessions offered at Balans.

In order to maintain his “world citizenship,” Joakim continues to teach and travel internationally.
