The pool features a brand new, 25m, 8-lane swimming pool with diving blocks, a refurbished learn-to-swim pool, and a splash pad and water play area. Balaklava Swimming Pool is open on days where the Adelaide forecast is 25 degrees or above. On days forecasted to be 30 degrees and above, the pool may remain open after 6pm, depending on patronage and the canteen manager's discretion. In addition, the pool is open for members only from 6am to 8:30am, Monday to Saturday.

The pool is also available for private functions. The facility can be hired with the agreement of the committee and subject to availability. The hiring fee varies based on the number of people and the requirement of additional lifeguards. If the pool is open to the public, refunds can be issued upon request.

To hire the pool for a private function, a representative of the club or group must take responsibility for the use of the facility. One lifeguard is provided by the pool, and additional lifeguards may be required based on the size of the event. The pool also offers BBQ facilities for hire, with a minimum of 48 hours notice required.
