Located at 20 Tower Rd in Toronto, Ontario, the Back Campus Fields are an athletic facility for physical activity and sport. Consisting of two synthetic turf fields, the Back Campus Fields offer top-notch outdoor facilities in the heart of the downtown campus. These multipurpose fields are Ontarios first International Hockey Federation (FIH) certified pitches and are considered to be the highest quality two-turf facility for field hockey in Canada.
The Back Campus Fields have a rich history, having served as a competition venue for the Toronto 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games. Today, the fields are used for a variety of recreational workouts and activities, registered programs and instruction, child and youth programming, intramurals, and special events.
In addition to being the home of the University of Toronto Varsity Blues intercollegiate Field Hockey team, the Back Campus Fields cater to recreational field hockey, soccer, Ultimate, lacrosse, and other field sports during non-programmed activity times. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the natural grass areas and shaded treed surroundings for picnicking, relaxation, or reading.
The Back Campus Fields are accessible for limited use during the week from 11 a. m. to 7 p. m.
for official U of T Sport and Rec programming. If not participating in a scheduled program or open sports training, visitors are expected to vacate the field during program times. Unfortunately, there are no changing rooms or washrooms directly at the fields.
For those travelling to the Back Campus Fields, metered street parking is available along Hoskin Ave. and Devonshire Pl, with a Green P Municipal Parking lot at Bedford Rd. and Bloor St. W.
Bike racks along Hoskin Ave provide secure bike parking, and public transit options include a short walk from the St. George Subway Station or access via the 94 Wellesley Bus.
The Back Campus Fields are open for rentals for field sport leagues, competitions, and other events. U of T student clubs and groups can also book facility space for their activities.
