Sons of the Thames Rowing Club, a friendly and competitive rowing club based in Hammersmith, is excited to promote an upcoming local rowing event. Situated on the renowned Oxford and Cambridge University Boat Race course, the club actively participates in both sweep rowing and sculling.
Throughout the year, we enter boats for novice, senior, and masters rowers in various head races and regattas. We take pride in providing a supportive and inclusive environment for our members. One of the notable features of our club is that we have one of the lowest unsubsidised fees on the Tideway.
For senior squad rowing, the fees are £540pa, while senior non-squad and recreational rowing are £420pa. Students, individuals under 23, and those over 65 can join for £270pa. Coxes are also welcome at our club, with a fee of £50 or the same as social membership.
To ensure that our club is the right fit for potential members, we offer a one-month trial period. We understand that rowing on the Tideway can be quite challenging, especially for coxes new to the area. Thus, we provide support and development opportunities specifically tailored to coxes new to the Tideway.
If you're interested in joining our rowing club, we would be delighted to arrange a club visit for you. This will give you the chance to see our facilities and have a chat with one of our friendly committee members to learn more about the vibrant club life we offer.
We also organise learn-to-row courses each summer. These courses are designed to introduce individuals to the exhilarating sport of rowing. No prior rowing experience is required, but individuals with a good level of base fitness and regular participation in sports tend to thrive in our program.
It's important to note that rowing training demands a high level of commitment. To make progress, our members typically engage in at least four training sessions during the week, as well as weekend mornings. We have a small gym at the club, and members also have access to the gym at Latymer School to support their training needs.
At Sons of the Thames, safety is our top priority. We adhere to strict safety guidelines set by the Port of London Authority. Whether you're a competent rower or a beginner, new members will always go out on the water with a fully signed-off member of the club or a coach.
If you're ready to embark on an exciting rowing journey on the famous Tideway, don't hesitate to get in touch with Sons of the Thames Rowing Club for further information. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing the thrill of rowing together!
