Aylesbury Green Park Sub Aqua Club, located in the heart of Buckinghamshire, is a friendly and well-established dive club that caters to individuals residing in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, and Oxfordshire. As an affiliate of the British SubAqua Club (BSAC), the governing body for SCUBA diving and snorkelling in the UK, Aylesbury Green Park Sub Aqua Club provides SCUBA training and qualifications that are recognised worldwide.
The club's highly qualified and BSAC-certified instructors offer comprehensive scuba training for all levels, from beginners to Dive Leaders. They also welcome divers who have trained with other agencies such as PADI, SSA, SSAC, SSI, or TDI. Additionally, Aylesbury Green Park Sub Aqua Club conducts skills development courses and even offers snorkelling lessons.
Beyond training, the club organises a wide range of scuba diving trips to various locations, including the UK coast as well as international destinations such as Egypt, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Iceland, Malta, the Maldives, and many more. Club members have also had the opportunity to explore exotic dive sites in places like Tahiti, the Philippines, Mexico, Komodo, the Great Barrier Reef, and Turkey.
One of the advantages of being a member of Aylesbury Green Park Sub Aqua Club is the security of having a group of trusted diving buddies with known skills, interests, and training. This relieves divers from the need to search for suitable diving partners at the dive site.
During term times, the club conducts sheltered water training at the Green Park Training and Conference Centre in Aston Clinton, near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. Additionally, the club typically organises monthly training trips to inland sites for practise, training, or simply to enjoy diving.
For those interested in getting started with scuba diving, Aylesbury Green Park Sub Aqua Club offers Try Dives in the pool. This introductory experience allows individuals to become acquainted with scuba equipment, breathe underwater, and receive an underwater tour. To participate in a Try Dive session, individuals must be competent swimmers, capable of swimming four lengths of the pool (100m) using any stroke at their own pace. The minimum age requirement for Try Dives is 12 years old, with parental consent required for individuals under 18 years old.
The club also provides answers to commonly asked questions, such as why individuals have to wait until the age of 14 to learn to dive. Aylesbury Green Park Sub Aqua Club explains that diving is a technical sport that requires a certain level of maturity and physical strength. While BSAC allows individuals as young as 12 years old to learn to dive safely, the club has decided not to accept trainees under the age of 14 for the time being. However, individuals between the ages of 12 and 14 are welcome to participate in a Try Dive session.
There is no upper age limit for diving. As long as individuals are reasonably fit and healthy, they can continue to dive well into their 70s and beyond. Some individuals may need to provide a medical certificate to ensure their fitness for diving.
