Welcome to Axe Valley Runners, an athletic club and scout hall located in Seaton, East Devon. The club is proud to serve members from the surrounding areas such as Beer, Axminster, and West Dorset. With a focus on inclusivity, Axe Valley Runners welcomes individuals of all abilities, from beginners to experienced ultra runners. No matter your skill level, you are encouraged to join the club and participate in our various running programmes and events.
One of the club's core activities is the organisation of Couch to 5k programmes, which aim to help individuals progress from a sedentary lifestyle to completing a 5-kilometre run. These programmes have proven to be highly effective in building endurance and confidence in new runners. In addition to this, Axe Valley Runners offers sessions for beginners, improvers, and experienced runners, ensuring that there is something for everyone.
At Axe Valley Runners, we believe in the power of running not only for physical health but also for mental well-being. With this in mind, we have initiated the #RunandTalk programme, providing a safe and supportive environment for individuals to discuss their mental health while engaging in physical activity. We strive to create a community atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable and supported.
Please note that as of now, the club does not have a juniors section. However, we are in the planning stages of reviving this group to provide younger individuals with the opportunity to participate in running activities.
Club nights are an integral part of Axe Valley Runners, offering members the chance to run with like-minded individuals and improve their running skills. Indicative paces and a calendar of upcoming club nights can be found on our website. Additionally, the club participates in various races, with race permits issued by the Association of Running Clubs. We are also proud members of Devon's InStep running network.
One of the highlights of Axe Valley Runners' calendar is the famous annual multi-terrain race, The Grizzly. This race attracts thousands of participants to the area and raises significant funds for various charities. The Grizzly has a long-standing tradition in our club's history and is a testament to our commitment to promoting running as a healthy and enjoyable activity.
