Welcome to Awesome Dorset Walkers, a sports club located in Scottsdale, Australia. With a medium pace and a duration of 45–60 minutes, our club offers the perfect opportunity to get active and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Scottsdale.
Led by our experienced walk organiser, Mae, our weekly walks take place every Thursday at 9:30 am. We have a dedicated group of 26 members who share a passion for walking and staying fit.
One of the aspects that sets us apart is our dog-friendly policy. We understand the joy of walking with a furry companion, so feel free to bring your four-legged friend along for the adventure. However, please note that our walks are not pram or wheelchair-friendly.
Scottsdale Art and Framing serves as our meeting point, conveniently located on King Street. If you have any inquiries or need further information, don't hesitate to contact Mae directly at 0407 533 618.
In addition to our club, Scottsdale is home to other walking groups such as the Scottsdale Strutters Walking Group. If you're looking to explore various walking options within a 10 km, 20 km, 25 km, 50 km, or 100 km radius, be sure to check out the nearby options.
At Awesome Dorset Walkers, we believe in the power of walking to improve physical and mental health. Walking for just 30 minutes a day can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes by 30 to 40 percent. It also helps manage weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol, reduces the risk of certain cancers, and improves balance and coordination.
Our club is proudly supported by the National Heart Foundation of Australia, and we align with their mission to promote heart health and physical activity in communities across the country. We acknowledge and pay respect to the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land on which we walk and live, and their ongoing connexion to culture, country, and community.
Whether you're a healthcare professional looking to refer your patients to our structured walking programme or an individual looking to join a supportive and motivated walking group, we have something for everyone. Join our walking community and experience the incredible benefits of walking for yourself.
