AVALON ARCHERY CLUB is a friendly and welcoming archery club located in Street, Somerset, with a rich history and connexion to the ancient practise of archery in the Avalon area. The club was established in 2013 and aims to promote and grow the interest in archery among individuals of all ages and skill levels.
The club warmly welcomes anyone interested in archery, aged 9 and above, regardless of their expertise or ability. For the safety and insurance reasons, completion of a Beginners' Course, provided by the club, is mandatory for those wishing to become a member of the club. These courses are held throughout the year, but due to recent Covid-19 restrictions, there might be a waiting list. In addition to the Beginners' Courses, the club also offers Taster Sessions for those who want to try archery and see if it is the right sport for them. The club has dedicated coaches, including a Level 1 coach and a Level 2 coach, who lead the Beginners' Courses and Taster Sessions and provide ongoing guidance and advice to club members.
AVALON ARCHERY CLUB practises Target Archery and shoots all year round, allowing all types of bows except crossbows. The club meets in the Strode College Sports Hall on Tuesday evenings from 6. 00pm to 8. 00pm during the winter months.
In the summer months, they meet on the Strode College Sports Field on Tuesday evenings (6. 00pm-8. 00pm). On Saturday mornings, the club meets on the Sports Field from 10.
00am to 12. 00 noon.
For individuals interested in a Taster Session, they can contact the club to receive more information. The club also considers providing “Have a Go” sessions for groups, organisations, and even corporate events. However, to ensure the safety of such events, there should be prior discussions between the club and the interested group/organisation.
The club meets at the Sports Centre of Strode College, located at Church Road, Street, Somerset, BA16 0AB. During the summer months (April to September), the club shoots outdoors on both Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings in the playing fields. In the winter months (October to March), the club shoots indoors in the Sports Hall on Tuesday evenings and outdoors on Saturday mornings.
