Summit Explorers is thrilled to announce the upcoming Avalanche Skill Course Level 2! This course, accredited by the NZ Mountain Safety Council, is designed to provide participants with valuable knowledge and skills to navigate avalanche risks in the stunning New Zealand mountains.
Calling all backcountry skiers, snowboarders, snowshoers, mountaineers, and winter enthusiasts - this is the perfect opportunity to enhance your avalanche safety knowledge and techniques. The course will cover essential topics such as snowpack assessment, recognizing avalanche terrain, rescue techniques, and decision-making in high-risk areas.
For those who have completed Avalanche Skill Course 1 or a similar program, this Level 2 course is highly recommended. Throughout the 4-day duration, participants will engage in both theoretical and hands-on sessions, including exploration in Wanaka Local Ski Resorts and an unforgettable overnight trip in the Pisa Range.
By the end of the course, individuals will be equipped with the necessary skills to assess avalanche hazards, navigate through dangerous terrain, and take appropriate action during emergencies.
