Austral Little Athletics, also known as Western Blues Little Athletics, is an Athletics Centre located in Austral, Australia. The centre promotes “Family, Fun, and Fitness” and is dedicated to providing a safe environment where children can develop good sportsmanship, athletic skills, and self-esteem. The Committee ensures that the centre complies with the Australian guidelines for a Child Safe Centre.
Little Athletics is run during the summer months, and the Club Competition nights take place on Friday nights, starting at 6:30 pm. Parents are encouraged to volunteer on these nights to help run an age group, record results, assist in the canteen, and pack/unpack equipment. Little Athletics centres rely on the assistance of parents and volunteers to operate smoothly.
Austral Little Athletics welcomes all children, regardless of their athletic abilities or skills. Each child is encouraged to achieve their personal best, and the centre aims to assist in developing their sporting abilities as well as increasing their fitness. Little Athletics is also a great place for children to make new friends.
Little Athletics NSW is the governing body for all Little Athletics centres, and parents are encouraged to become fully involved in their children's sporting development. Little Athletics provides a unique opportunity for parents to be involved beyond just being spectators.
The centre caters to athletes of mixed abilities aged 3–17 years and aims to create an inclusive environment where all people, including those with disabilities, feel welcome and comfortable to participate.
In light of COVID-19, Austral Little Athletics follows the guidelines issued by Little Athletics NSW and monitors developments regarding the virus. The safety and well-being of all athletes and participants are of utmost importance.
Austral Little Athletics was recognised for its growth and commitment to the sport, receiving the “Largest Increase In Registered Athletes Award” at the Little Athletics NSW 2019 Conference. The centre acknowledges and thanks all the volunteers who have contributed to its growth and looks forward to their continued support in the upcoming season.
Parents, guardians, and carers of school-enrolled children can take advantage of the Active Kids programme, which provides two $100 vouchers each year to be used towards sport and active recreation costs. More information on how to claim these vouchers can be found on the centre's website.
Once the season has started, athletes can log in to ResultsHQ to check their competition results. Parents are also encouraged to volunteer to help enter results into the system, and training will be provided.
Important dates and updates for the 2022/2023 season, including sprints and throws training and the first night of the season, can be found on the centre's Facebook page.
Austral Little Athletics strives to provide a supportive, encouraging, and friendly environment for all participants. The centre aims to foster the love for athletics in children and help them develop their skills and abilities as they grow.
