Welcome to Athletics Nelson, Nelson's only Athletics New Zealand registered senior club promoting running and walking in the Nelson Region. Our club, located at 12345 Nelson Street, offers a welcoming and inclusive environment for athletes of all levels and abilities.

At Athletics Nelson, we believe in the power of community and the joy of staying active. Whether you are a seasoned athlete or just starting out, we have a range of activities and events to suit everyone.

Every Saturday, we host the Two Thumb meet at Two Thumb New Street in Nelson. This challenging event features an undulating course up the Centre of New Zealand and out to Walters Bluff, spanning approximately 7. 5 km. The runs have no marshals, no cones, and no entry fee (with a few exceptions), allowing you to simply turn up and enjoy.

Times are taken and published for all events, and all competitors enter at their own risk. Safety is paramount, and we expect all participants to observe traffic and safety rules. Failure to do so may result in a ban from future events. Walkers and early runners start at 3:45pm, while runners start at 4:00pm unless otherwise advised.

If you're an early riser, our Ruby's Morning Coffee Run is perfect for you. Held every Wednesday morning at 6:00am during January, this 5 km run or walk is a popular tradition in our club. Enjoy great coffee from the team at Ruby's, located at the container on Akersten Street, Port Nelson. The entry fee is $5, and you can register on the morning of the event.

Each week features a different course, and there are spot prizes to be won. This event is a great way to meet fellow runners and walkers and is especially welcoming to visitors to Nelson.

In addition to our regular events, Athletics Nelson offers a diverse range of programmes and activities. We have a children's programme designed to introduce young athletes to the world of athletics in a fun and supportive environment. We also offer coaching services for individuals looking to improve their performance and technique. Our club is proud to be supported by generous sponsors and supporters who make our events and programmes possible.

Registration for our weekly competitions can be done online, with entries closing at 6pm on Monday night for Wednesday competitions and at 6pm on Thursday night for Saturday competitions.

Late entries are strongly discouraged, especially for track events, but can be given to the meet manager by 11:15am for a Saturday meet and 5:15pm for a Wednesday meet.
